Castor oil is a favorite among soapmakers because it improves lather and moisturizing qualities in cold and hot process soaps. The high ricinoleic acid content (approximately 90%) helps produce a rich, creamy lather that enhances the overall texture of soaps, making them smoother and longer-lasting. Use 5-8% castor oil in soap formulations for the best results. Keep in mind that exceeding 10% may result in sticky soap bars.
