Sodium Lactate is a sodium salt of natural lactic acid produced by fermentation from vegetable derived sugar. It is a multifunctional natural humectant used in personal care products and is considered a good substitute for glycerin. Sodium lactate is NOT a preservative but is known to have antioxidant properties and can improve bacterial stability when used in combination with a full spectrum preservative. It is used in soapmaking as an additive to help with de-molding and to improve the texture of the soap bar.
This is a 60% solution of sodium lactate and 40% water.
